Hi, I’m Stewart and I have just graduated with a First Class Honours in Interaction Design from the Glasgow School of Art. Throughout my time on the course I have developed an array of skills such as creative coding, data visualisation, projection mapping, 3D design, real time interactive work and more. Using established software like the Adobe Suite, Blender and TouchDesigner as well as coding environments like processing I am able to create unique outcomes for every project. Our standing as creative technologists also allows us to communicate effectively between teams ensuring projects integrate different workflows seamlessly.
I am currently looking for work in the industry and would be grateful for any opportunity that arises. If you’re interested, please get in touch.
My final years work centers around the changes within myself and my practice after witnessing my close friend being seriously assaulted. This work delves into the themes of trauma, healing, friendship, and resilience.
The first part of this work is a sound reactive 3D Video, the objects are represent my memory of the event. The video reacts to the noise levels in the room adding increasing levels of distortion to the work. The distortions represent themes of hyper vigilance, unpredictability and depersonalisation. Only the shapes, the manifestations of trauma are affected by the noise while the ocean landscape remains unaffected.
The second is a series of cast objects, the three objects all have distinctive material properties each highlighting ways trauma can be relived. Viewers are encouraged to handle the objects, inspecting their weight and various textures. Over time, as the objects are handled they will change symbolising the passage of time and the process of healing.
